What is Yap?

YAP is an automated platform that INSTANTLY CONVERTS ANYTHING YOU SAY on your cell INTO TEXT, for messaging, voicemail, or web services. Now you’re thinking to yourself, "I've heard this before," right? Nope, sorry.

While other startups may claim the same, those guys use mostly humans on the back end to manually transcribe your messages. (By comparison, Google's PigeonRank is a contender for the next Nobel Prize for humanitarianism!) Their approach is questionable for your privacy, their delivery takes minutes while Yap's takes seconds, and they will have challenges scaling. How does Yap compare against "VoiceSMS" startups that merely send audio files around? Without text you have no psychometrics. Without those you get no ads. Get it?

Yap's patent pending system allows you to easily send text messages by simply speaking them into a mobile application. Why did Yap decide to tackle that first? 66% of teens text while driving! Our co-founders sister just entered undergrad as a freshman, she's commuting to/from campus, and that stat made them shudder given her short attention span. It made prioritizing this work easy.

It also supports a number of other creative use cases: send wall posts to your friends on Facebook, tell them where you are on Twitter, find the nearest sushi using Google, get info on the latest movie from Yahoo!, read what's up on Digg or Newsvine, research something on Wikipedia, check out fresh videos on YouTube, or search Amazon/eBay for more gear. One day you'll also be connect to most IM networks on the planet.

Yap has the skills and experience to help unify the mobile web. Their team previously worked on iPod, ViaVoice, Honda's navi, etc. They are actively seeking creative partnerships to grow the business and support the needs of carriers, device makers, and web portals worldwide.
